Luna is laying - again...

lele Aug 27, 2004 04:40 PM

I was suspicious about her being gravid again a few weeks back so I put the tub in just in case. But then, other than not eating she was "normal." The last two days I found her on the bottom of the cage and very dark in the mornings and sure enough, later today there was sand everywhere! LOL! She is in the hole and face out so hopefully she will be done tonight, but I will wait just in case she has any remaining. I doubt very much that this clutch will be as big as last time - but who knows!

I don't understand why she had two infertile clutches so close (the other was May 15th). But I at least feel more confident in her signs and I am sure it will get easier for both of us - just hope this doesn't mean 4x a year ;-/

Hey Lele,
Sounds like you might as well get Luna a boyfriend.HeHeHe If she's going to keep laying these eggs for you, they might as well be fertile. Lots of stress on you worrying about the babies, but less stress on her laying.

nah, no babies here. I may stress a little about her laying (though she does so well I think it could become "routine" but 9 months of egg worrying and then months of baby worrying - YIKES! :-/

as I was just cleaning off and counting another 42(!) eggs (same as last time) I was thinking to myself "Well, I'll show these to some of the kids in the neighborhood that I promised and then put them out for birds and critters. Sure glad I don't have 42 baby chams!"

lol!

Hi lele,

It's good to know Luna is doing fine with her natural duties. Also, I believe you're now really experienced to deal with her and treat her well to get thru all this : )

Thanks, yes I feel much more comfortable with all of this. I guess I am sort of glad the first time was so stressful b/c this time was a breeze - I put in her tub and figured if she needed it she would use it! last week she weighed 100g so I knew there were some in there - 42! Exact same number as last time! weird.
