free roam

turtlester Aug 27, 2004 05:00 PM

my iguana escaped from his cage yesterday. i finally founbd him this morning. but before putting back in the cage, I thought, maybe hed be better free roam. so i went about iguana proofing my room, sealing all small spaces I didnt want him in. I reduced clutter on shelves and covered all the aquariums. I put food for him by the window, and he seems to enjoy this new freedom. is this a good idea? any other ideas for iguana proofing? thanks!

free roam is great if its an option. it can be preety hard to ig proof a room. lets see. make sure he cant get tangled in any wires,or chew them. sounds weird but i have caught one of my igs chewing on a wire. keep any little objects that can be swallowed away where he cant get them. i saw on tv once where an ig swallowed a bunch of coins. had to get them removed or he would die. you might want to remove brakables of of shelves because he will clime up and knock them over. thats all i can think of right now hope it works out for you. good luck.
