Can you give me some tips on taking the backing off? everytime i try, the bone is reduced to dust and the turtles can't eat it!

I chip it off with a sharp knife.

Try soaking it in a bowl of water over night. I use a butter knife along the edge of the backing.

thanks Katrina, chipping it off just turns it to dust.

use a sharp knife..be careful of course, and chip off huge chunks. Exacto knifes would work too. Just BEEEE CAREFUL!
