Photo help, camera type stuff...

If anyone has any pointers for taking digi pics, I would love some. I have a Kodak CX6200, and I don't think it is too bad or hard to use. I'm just wondering how you all get such clear, crisp, colorful pics? I took all the pics I posted outside, hoping that would make a difference, but it didn't really seem to help all that much. I used the "Best" pic quality setting, and did adjust the contrast after the pics were taken, but I really want to be able to get good pics to post. I hate saying I have nice snakes, but not being able to show it through pics. Is it a camera problem? Should I look for a new one, and if so, any reccomendations?

Thanks,
Rick
