I have bought all my snakes as babies. If you could post the reason why you prefer one or the other it would be appreciated but you dont have to.

I prefer purchasing hatchlings because I love watching them grow and seeing their colors brighten or darken.

I have always bought small animals and watched them grow. I want to own the snake over its entire life span. My new bairds ratsnake had eaten only 3 or 4 times when I got him recently.

and change. also i believe the reptiles will make better pets if i can raise them myself and that they will become accustom to me and
my ways of doing things. and i will have a better handle on them to
notice if they were to get sick. also alot of times if you buy from the breeder you can see the parents and get a little history on them.

I also like buying them as babies, because I think it causes less stress on the snake. If you get it as a baby then it's easier to learn the new feeding procedures than it is for a full grown stubborn one. Also, if you get one in the mail I choose baby because the stress they go through in transit is easier to handle being young vs old. I keep my snakes in large tanks, and most breeders keep them in very small deli cups to small rubbermaid containers...and I just like to get them into a comfy housing situation ASAP lol.
