pine bedding

can i use pine shavings on any snakes??if so what species?i have heard they can be harmful because of fumes. my main concern is using it for my hatchling corn snake(about 2 months old)

I heard there are oils in the pine shavings which can be harmful to snakes. Same with cedar. It also can cause an array of health problems, avoid it.

Agreed. Pine and cedar are not good choices. If you want a bedding along the same line, get some aspen.

Just also make sure you dont feed them in the cage, they can accidentally ingest the wood and that could kill 'em. You may want to try astroturf...thats what I have in all my cages. Got it from Home depot, 6 feet wide and its only like $2.15 per linear foot. (which would be 1x6 feet for $2.15)

I have used pine and aspen for years, they are not harmful. My eastern king has been on pine bedding for over 20yrs and is fat and healthy, never been sick. With hatchlings I lay a paper towel over the bedding because everything sticks to the pinkies. After they get to where they are eating bigger mice I feed right on the bedding. They are big enough at that point if they do swallow some shavings it will just pass through, never had a problem.
