Red -spotted newts

jabberwock486 Aug 27, 2004 09:49 PM

for the past few years i have been trying to get some of these. though they do natrualy live in this area i would prefer captive bred.
they where actually the first herps i had owned, i was 6 years old. and yes they lived a long time. i had them for over 5 years, until 1 choked on a fly that was too large and the other got inside a fake rock and drowned.
every store use to have them, i bought these guys at meijers, a grocery store, of all places. however sence those days i have never seen any store with them. while i am sure many of those in store ones where wild caught and its good that it has gone down. i dont know why you never see them anymore.

every place has the firebellys.

i would like to know if there are any places in south west ohio that sells or breeds them, as well as axotls(spelling)

There are people who breed some of the red spotted newt species, on caudata.org for axolotls check the amphibian classifieds for Mike Shrom.
