Well, that is just a stunning animal. I see purple which I really like, and I think it is unusual. You should be proud of this beauty.

It's either the camera or the snake, but that is an incredibly beautiful looking little beast.

Do you know where you got the parents of these?I have had a bone of contention with the hondo experts concerning the validity of the "extreme"hondo naming and its occurance within the HYPO line. That snake looks very much like what I would expect to see in a "extreme"line tricolor(I still think these are lavender albinos). That could very well account for the red you see in the eyes and why its not in ALL of them. The problem when finding a second "hidden"recessive gene within a line like this is that they look so similar and while one could argue that they are just degrees of hypomelanism that would also account for the variation within a line--including HYPOS,"extreme"lavender albinos),AND DUAL MORPHS liketheHYBINO gene may be very difficult to distinguish until we see enough of them around.Just a thought........Jeff

Jeff,
The breeding stock was from Terry and it was triple het to triple het. From the clutch 5 were hypos and 3 normal. What is interesting 2 of the hypos have the red eyes and the others do not. I not trying to make a big deal of it but do feel that there is something else going in there genetically but I am no hondo expert. I do feel that they are indeed hypo but no way near the Extreme as Mikes or others I have seen. Kevin Hanley has an adult male that I have seen in person and it is better that the pictures. I have not heard of the Lavender albino term and find that interesting. At what point does the degrees of hypomelanism or trait turn to a new morph or name. Not trying to promote it just get a better understanding of how this happens.
I thank you for your thoughts and hope to learn more in time.
Kind Regards,
Adam

I know that multi-gene possibilities occur in more than just ratsnakes, lol.I dont think it a stretch at all considering the "extreme"a lavender albino--in fact if you think about how one of these SHOULD look--almost a no-brainer.To continue to link this "extreme" hypo to the HYPO line(though agreed that is where the line originated)can only further confuse the issue.I mean if Mike doesnt know exactly what is going on WHO does?? If he suggests there to be 3 different "looks"than why not consider there may be another gene at work?Doesnt it make sense?I know this is a MARKETING NIGHTMARE for the powers of the hondo market unable to corner it,but I can tell you I can only wish I had as many smart people working on my Yellow rat project that you have with Hondos.....Maybe someday I will save up and get some of these new cornsnakes..OOPS,hondos,lol. Touche,Jeff

No,It wasn't a low blow.I was just saything that not everything needs to fallow the same pattern as the yellow rats you are working on?
Think about it?What is a lavender albino???????????in ball pythons they call it a caramel or t albino and in boas its called a t albino?

Now,is the extreme hypos a t albino?Who knows? Its not just mike thats had them pop out either/Paul weaver has produced a couple from his hypos?

Time will tell but I would think that a lavender albino would be just that?

Its arguing with people who cant argue with proper etiquette.I tossed this idea(lav albino) out there YEARS ago now,and just revisited it when Mike suggested 3 "grades"of hypos, and if you noticed to some it was at least an interesting theory....If you want to know about the purity of my yellows simply ask,as I have done the work! That goes for anyone interested as well. Thanks,Jeff

What county are they from?

I know you are a biologist and all and I'm just a simpleton, but can you give me the definition of vergatative? I couldn't find it in my dictionary.
