Mad_1234 Aug 28, 2004 11:35 AM

I just found two good eggs in my pietschmanni encloser this mourning. I'm so excited I could just burst. I thought that maybe since my female had lost her calcium sacs that she might be gravid and I was right. Anyway after about 4 months of waiting I finally got what I wanted. Reasearch pays off.

Congratulations Matt, hope they will hatch out perfect. Some CB pietschmannis are really needed on the uroplatus market. Here is a picture of my pietschmannis.
I also got hold of 1.0 U.lineatus today, totally amazing with its black tounge.

Again congratulations!!!

Best regards

BAH!!! im so jealous. i have yet to find any fertile eggs from mine. of course, i wish you the best of luck with raising them. you say research....do you have any special info thats not readily available? im still trying to get mine to produce fertile eggs, and im really thinking it will be soon, but all i can do is wait. please share some tips!!!!

umop_apisdn Aug 28, 2004 08:19 PM

first of all, how were the eggs situated in your enclosure? buried or exposed? near any piece of cage furniture? what kind of light cycle and temp/humidity are you using? surely you must be doing something right!!!

The eggs were incredibly easy to find. They were not buried but both side by side on the soil of one of my potted plants underneath some green moss that was on top of the pot. I think the female laid them there because it was elevated above the ground and also because for substrate I only have a paper thin layer of peatmoss. I tried to simluate their native habit as much as possible. During the winter I kept their encloser cool and dry and when my female got her calcium sacs I warmed up the encloser quite a bit and really boosted up the humidity. If you want to get an idea about what temps and humidity you should be keeping them at just go to weather.com and type in Tana(Antananviro?)Madagascar and it will give you all the info. you need. I don't have any other tips than these and I don't if what I did made them breed but PRAISE THE LORD I finnaly got some eggs. I hope you get some eggs then maybe we can exchange babies and get a second generation going.
