Albino BCC story.....

M n R-Reptile Aug 28, 2004 12:31 PM

Back in 2000 or 2001 Mike Ellard from Burgundy Reptiles Imported a Sub Adult Male. I happened to be at Zoological imports 2000, inc when hecalled saying we had to see something special he just got in.
He came.....it was a suriname shipment.
Lots of boxes of regular stuff but only one box of boas.
In that box was a red colored bag among the rest of the white ones.
He opened it and I literally stepped over myself and heard jaws drop.
It was the albino suriname bcc that was seen at the chicago show, and I think a few other shows.
I was lucky enough to be one of only 3 people to see it when it arrived.
It was automatically a hush -hush thing.
The animal ended up being purchased by Will Slough who as I know it still has it now and may expect baby hets this year????
The FIRST one wasnt this one though. The first one was one that was in germany and if not in germany somewhere in Europe.
It is the opne pictured in an albino book.
This animal is now here in the united states in a breeding program.
As far as I know there have been 4 BCC but one died before being exported as it was found in a chicken coop and had severe lacerations from the owner of the chicken coop down there.
I have not heard of BCC albinos from Guyana, but Ihave heard of a solid black bcc with minimal pattern that is somewhere in the middle east now, dont know if it is still around as this was rumored to occur in the late 80;'s
The third SURINAME bcc is somewhere, if it exists.
I dont think it is in Europe though....more than likely it is here.
Someone is keeping it REAL hush hush or it just doesnt exist in a captive collection.
The one Will Slough has was found by a 12-15 yr old boy in Suriname and he was given $500.00 for it.
It wet for alot more than that here.

Seems if I had something that rare and spectacular I would want to show it off so that others may enjoy it and want or desire to have to have one, what I think is going to happen is that in about three years after the first hets are sold the market will crash and they will sell for much lower, if the starter breeder produces so many for himself and then after a few years starts to sell them to other breeders the first people to buy in are going to pay big big bucks and then there will be so many created by the starter he will be forced to sell them for lower than the first buyers were buying them at and then the snowball effect will happen,, I don't know maybe I'm just rambling or just can't stand the hush hush i do i crap that goes with it...

JUST SHOW US SOME G D> PICTURES ALREADY< OR DID THE ANIMALS DIE AND THE BREEDERS DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THEY SPENT 45K AND THE THING DIED BEFORE GETTING ANYTHIG OUT OF IT??

SHOW US SOME PICS ALREADY IT WILL ONLY HELP PROMOTE THE ANIMALS AND START THE CRAVEINGS FOR PEOPLE TO WANT THEM DON'T YOU THINK?

If it were me that owned a snake like that, I wouldn't post it.
I have no need to.
I would breed it once, produce hets, raise them up, produce visuals. Then buy one booth at daytona and display the het babies and visual babies for sale in clear display cases with a black sheet on the table. Then I would just collect money.
Someone who owns that snake is not going to try to produce 300 hets out of it.
They dont want to screw themselves in the long run.
They much rather produce one or two good litters from it, raise some up, breed them and produce a limited amount of visuals.
That way prices stay high for a much longer time.
Also if the breeder did produce 300 hets, being BCC, not many people will be succesful in producing them.
Plus BCC usually take a year or two longer to produce from babies than a BCI.
You can possibly breed a 2-3 yr old BCI but it doesnt happen with ease with a BCC. They take longer to mature, and need bigger size.
A 4-5 yr old would produce(BCC) and this helps in keeping numbers down and demand up.
