...about @$$uming?
"However you chose not to notice the first 2 question marks in my previous post.Which i deemed more important.(Thats why they were first)."
"Is this the norm ? ..and what is she worth ?"
Above, are the only 2 questions you asked.
She(no spurs?)has been with me since 02.
Is this supposed to be one of the "first 2 questions deemed more important"? If so, the lack of spurs is a female.
Without a photo, there is no way to assume what her value is. The reptile market is generally based on variations of pattern and color and the availability of a given species. Vipers have been sold as low as $40.00 and as high as $1000.00. Quality and time cared for captive produced animals are near non existant(not saying there are not any out there, just that they are few and far between). They are not a generally pleasant species to work with; which is why they do not carry the hype and familiarity as say the Ball pythons (just a species of similar size and girth for reference). Given their fiesty attitudes, Vipers do not appeal to a large consumer base, ruling out worth, which only leaves rarity and scarcity. Something different than what has saturated the market becomes the "next fad" to keep. Yes, it does help to understand the species on a broader spectrum. But look at all the normal Ball pythons that do not "sparkle" as well as their morph based counterparts. If Vipers were more placid, I could see them rivalling the "worth" of other species that are readily available in this country.
On a personal note, I have kept Vipers for some time now, Scrub pythons also, and have watched the reptile market scouring for something new, odd, and rare to refresh itself with...something one has that the other does not. I am not an elitist as you may have assumed. I wish more people kept Vipers to provide a stable pool of captive born and bred specimens and an understanding into this particular species. So, yes, when you ask for the first posting, what is she worth, I guess my response should have just been..."What did you pay for her?"
