having troubles with sterilite tub cages, advice needed

pengulove Aug 28, 2004 05:14 PM

ok, so for a year i have used the 28quart sterilite container for my snakes, with no problems. temperatures in their cage are well set(have not changed at all in the past year), with a gradient and everything. the problem is that on the cooler side of the tub there has been a large amount of condensation accumulating on the walls of the tub. their water bowls are on the cool end, but still the humidity is very high. i have small 3/8" holes drilled in the walls about 3" apart all around the tub. like i said i have never had problems before, but now all of a sudden i am having problems.

anyone have any ideas what is going on here and maybe how i could fix it? thanks for any advice in advance.

I have a large rubbermaid set-up similar to what you describe. I have added more holes to the lid. Too high humidity can lead to respiratory problems. You didn't mention the percent humidity. Do you have a humidity guage? Try adding more holes (a few at a time) to the sides and/or lid. Hopefully this will allow more air to circulate and reduce the humidity.
