NEWSFLASH: Aliens found breeding with snakes!!!(read all about it!)

jonellopez Aug 28, 2004 06:07 PM

Hi everyone,

Hehe! Did I get your attention? Anyway, Kinda nice to see kings other than getula in the forum these days(no offense to Keith and company ofcourse). We just need something different once in a while, right? Here's a nice thayeri that I picked-up from a friend this year. I told him I wanted a nice back-up male since one of my stud males hit 10 this year. But low and behold this is what he produced. Not really that suprising since her mother had the similar spotted pattern although a different color(orange). But talk about a green thayeri though! The whole clutch were pretty outstanding but this one stood out because of her color. The majority of his siblings were orange but I thought to myself that I do need some "variablity" in my collection since most of my animals are orange. Hopefully he'll stay that clean and green when he gets older. My girlfriend told me he looks like an alien because of his color and back eyes in the pic. I'm suprised that my camera took a pretty accurate photo of his color since it's sometimes hard to accurately photograph some hues and colors sometimes. I've always loved these guys. Hopefully he will be another stud in my small collection. As an added bonus his appetite is superb. Just sharing. Take care guys.

Hopefully they'll have love at first "smell". I think it's a nice combo since their pattern is somewhat similar. Thin pattern like a nice alterna phase greyband so it will be nice to see some babies from these two. She's actually 3 this year so she'll definitely be breed next spring. I guess she'll get first dibs on him when he's ready! hehe.

I wish people would post more pics here of this variable species. I think a lot of people don't know much about them and how facinating it is to breed them. If more pics/info is shared this is something that would really create more interest in them.

Hi Jim

I know what you mean. Waiting can sometimes be a drawback but it justifies itself when eveything goes your way and you see the hatchlings poking out of the eggs. I also have some breeding adults that produce some nice babies and I still can't wait until the younger ones get to breeding age. The possible outcomes is what keeps these guys so exciting. Thayeri projected hatching dates are always so exciting because of their variability. Good luck with your trio and don't forget to post some pics when everything gets together and those eggs get laid. Thanks and take care.

I love her faded blotches. No to mention she eats like my bullsnakes and black milks. She just has a crazy appetite. You know the type that so excited that she sometimes bites her self because she sees herself move and thinks its food too! Forget smelling what it is. Bite and figure what it is later . hehe.

Thanks Jonel,
Here is a shot of her last year at 2 months of age. One of my favorites. But to tell you the truth, it is hard to sell any of them, if you know what I mean. LOL!!
Thanks,

Hi Jeff

Nice to hear from you bro. I produced some(not many) thayeri this year and most of them have been starting to feed early so I can't complain. As far as knobs go, my females took this year off and I didn't get any eggs. Hopefully nest year should be another good one for these guys. Talk to you soon bro.

Great looking Thayeri. Have some ready to leave their eggs shortly. Anxious to see the mix being that they are so variable there is always a mix.
