pacman eat a bird?

ivantheman Aug 28, 2004 11:33 PM

Once it gets big enough, could a pacman eat a bird and not die/ get sick? I know they eat birds in the wild and im sure it can catch oneif the bird is close enough.
Im sure the can eat large prey items because a manager who used to work at the petstore (jack's aquarium) i work at almost lost a kitten to one.(sadly, that story is what made me want to buy one....)

Yes, the frog probably could/would eat a bird if you gave it the chance. Are you actually considering feeding it a bird?

I had a pac man dropped off to me once at three in the morning because it ate a person't hand trained red factor canary. Apparently the canary landed on the lid which wasn't sitting properly on the tank and it tilted like a trap door dropping the canary in front of the frog.
You can guess the rest of the scenario.

At least it would make for a nice story. I don't think I would choose to feed my frog birds often. Maybe a day old chick for an extremely large frog, but even that would be a bit out of the ordinary. I certainly wonder how often Ceratoprhys, as well as other species, eat birds in the wild. It surely can't be too common of a situation.

I have to root around a lot to find the refernce article on wild diets but birds are recorded as being found in the stomach of C. ornata.

Oh, I have no doubts. I was not questioning that ornata, or another species, would eat them. I was just wondering how common of an occurance it was. I think that would be extremely interesting to hear. Take it easy.

Didn't find the ornata reference I was looking for with the frequency of bird consumption but when rooting around did find this refernce referring to ornata consuming young chickens.
I don't have the article in front of me but it may be of interest if you want to look it up.
