I just brought home two hatchlings. How long can I expect to have the company? Also, how fast do they grow in the first year? contemplating a new enclosure.

In captivity, 15 years would be good, although 20 years is becoming more common. Some people have had them reach 30. Hope you were ready for the long-term commitment!

How fast they grow in their first year will depend on what they're fed and how often. They should reach their adult size by about age three if that helps.

We have a corn snake at work that is currently 16 years old (have had 11 years and was stated to be 5 years old when donated). I have an emory that I personally have owned for 10 years and she was full grown when purchased so that could make her at the very least 13 years of age though maybe older. Also at work we have a copperhead that we've had on display for 20 years now and he was estimated to possibly be around 3-5 years of age when caught making him at least 23-25 years old now.
