Angry turtle

Trish Jun 25, 2003 07:58 AM

I've had my turtle almost a year and he's always seemed contented. Lately he seems restless and has been escaping, and he also bites on everything in the tank (rocks, ramp, filter, etc). I don't know what to do for him. He seems like he's mad that he's in the tank. Anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong or what I can put in the tank to keep him occupied? Thanks.

tell us more about the tank, what size, how deep, what kind of lid/canopy, water temp, basking temp, how big the turtle is.

The turtle is one year old. He is in a 60 gallon breeder tank. The basking temp is 90 and the water temp is normally right around 76. I have a glass top, that I keep half open so the basking light can hit the ramp. I cant find a mesh lid to fit the tank because its wide. I keep the water about 3/4 full. I bought him a pool for the summer, but I only put him in there on weekends when I'm around. I dont feel comfortable leaving him alone outside.
