Does SDZ retain its values even with freezing?

boidsntegus Aug 29, 2004 08:38 AM

I know some nutrients/minerals breakdown when they encounter moisture (in the turkey), but does the frozen leftovers retain the same or near the same nutritional value as when mixed? Also, does SDZ require centrum brands, or will any good multivitamin work? I use a GNC brand vitamin that is way better (for people at least), than the centrums, and was wondering if this would be good enough? Is SDZ designed to be used without vitamin/mineral powder, or should these products still be used? Thanks for your time.

I would have to assume that the SDZ retains most of its nutritional value when frozen. Since it was designed by the zoo for use and they freeze it for use. But that is just an assumption I do not know if any studies have been done to back that up.
As for the vitamins. I would think as long as the contents of the two vitamins are close in both content and quantity then a vitamin other than centrum would work. That is my thought though.
For the use of calcium and vitamins supplements with the SDZ. I do not know if the use of them is required since there are vitamins in the SDZ. I still sprinkle a little on mine any way just to be sure. These are just my thoughts so take them with a grain of salt. It just made sense to me is all.
Good luck
