Beanie came home last night Guess how many eggs?

Linda G Jun 25, 2003 08:19 AM

The vet saved the contents of her spay for me to see. I
could not believe it! She had 20 eggs in that little body.
No wonder we has not eaten in 4 weeks. The good news is
there were no problems with any infection as everything
was intact still.

She is alert but still pretty slow. The vet wants me to
restrict her climbing for another 2 days then I can give
her the full run of her habitat. She hasn't eaten yet
but hopefully soon. She goes back in 30 days to hopefully
have the stitches removed.

Thanks to everyone who posted to me when I was freaking out.
Boy, I can't believe how much I have learned from this
experience. And to think that less than a year ago I
knew nothing about Iguanas. I guess she wanted to change that

So glad to hear that the girl is home and recovering! It will take awhile, but she'll back to her old self, only better, soon. I wanted to respond to your earlier posts but it was too difficult after just losing Doonie to egg peritonitis....just hit too close to home, I guess. But, this is good news and I'm happy for both of you. Gentle head rubs to Beanie for me.

So glad to hear she's doing well. Didn't see any posts for a few days and would have started to worry but figured you were just busy taking care of her.

I was surprised to hear that you're vet is okay w/letting her climb so soon. Was he maybe able to keep her incision relatively small.....because there was no infection (like both mine had)?

My vet insisted I prevent climbing for a full 6 weeks. Wouldn't even let me soak them for 2 wks. No climbing was okay w/Shirley, as she's never gotten back to being able to climb anyway (remember her age). With Romeo though, after the 4th week there was no way I couldn't keep her completely down.

Keep up the good work, and keep us posted.
Rebecca
