hi
ive been buying crickets for my baby from the local pet shop and i noticed that there pretty expensive considering the amount my little guy eats. i can buy them every week no problem but i was wondering if it is worth it to buy the crix from the net 2,000 at a time. if people do this can u tell me how u keep them? what do u need other then a source of food and water? help me out plz. i have two beardys so would it be worth it? and could people who have had good expriences with ordering crix off the net tell me who they got them off of. (i live in ontario canada)

It's a very good idea that'll save you money in the long run. I would buy 1000 not 2000 because you'll more than likely have allot of them die off if you keep that many and don't use them up right away but a 1000 would/should be good. Then you'll need a rubbermaid box that is about 2' wide X 1' deep X 1' tall. Take some rough sand paper or steel wool. Then scrape the inside of the tub about 4-6" from the ground up with the wool or sand paper...this will allow the crickets to get away from eachother and have room to go somewere else if needed. Then get some wheat bran and/or wheat germ and put it in the tub on a dish. Instead of watering you can just feed your crickets lettuce everyother day or so. Then order your crickets and dump them in. Oh and I also like to lay papertoweling down on the floor of the tub for easy clean up. As for a place to buy them...we aren't able to say actual places or our post will get pulled (thats kingsnakes policy)...but if you wanna know a good place to get them then just e-mail me at snowboard_herps@hotmail.com

Sounds like a pretty good setup.

I'm pretty fond of using cheap 5 gallon buckets. You can buy them clean and new at most of the big hardware places for cheap.

The buckets are tall enough that even with "cover" stuff in the bucket the crix can't escape.

Works for me, but I don't keep near that many at a time. I prefer not to keep crix if I can help it

Good luck

I ordered mine online.
I used the caresheet for crickets
off reptilerooms website.
This uses a rubbermaid tub.
As for water. I give mine two choices.
half an orange and a small lid filled with
rocks. so the crickets can sit on the rocks
and drink without drowning.

You do want to have your tub well ventilated.
They stink if you don't.
I cut a large hole in the lid of the tub.
And put window screen in it. Serves two
purposes. One keeps crickets in. two keeps
spiders out.

I just went to yahoo search and typed in
"crickets canada"
And came up with a website that is out of
canada. You might try doing a search on
the web and see if you can find anything.
Postage would be a lot less I bet.
