head shaking and noise?

phalgirl Aug 29, 2004 02:52 PM

I took out my new female of 2 months and she tried to jump on my skirt but slid down and landed 3 feet down to a thick carpet. After she was shaking her head and making this strange quiet chirpy noise. Has anyone experienced this before? She is sleeping as usual in her enclosure now.

never experienced it before, but my guess is she might have hurt herself a lil in the fall, 3 feet can be a bit for a small gecko. id recommend keeping a close eye on her, if anything unusual persists, take her to the vet and have her checked out, theres always a possibility of a broken rib or something in a fall like that, but my geckos have jumped like that before and been fine.

Be very careful with the vet though. i have heard a few instances especially with young ones that drop their tail on the trip and while there. however, i wuldnt worry 2 much, my guess is that the lil guy/girl was a bit stunned and scared after the fall or was uncomfortable. as long as he/she is eating and moving properly nothing shuld be concernable. a 2 month old, is it a crested gecko? i got my cresty as an egg and raised him. hes almost 18 months and just shed yesterday, now hes huge! he grew a ton from that! he just all of a sudden fatteneed out and his head looks almost 2 times as wide! anyway, just make sure u monitor it closely and only get it out every other day if u want it to get used to u. mine is extrmemely tame thanx to this method and will sit contently on my shoulder for 20 minutes to an hour without much movement as long as i rub his head. Have u tried lookin at the calci storage sacs in the back of the throat? if u have quetions about them pleaze ask me

Thanks, she seems fine now. I noticed my male bit her tail yesterday and she made the same noise! I am waiting for him to get as big as her as yours did. It should happen soon (he's 8-9 mos old)! Good taming tip, thanks!
