Hi, I caught this Green Snake on the road by my house...

Ghostknife Jun 25, 2003 09:05 AM

I've always called them Green Tree Snakes. What is their real name, and do they live well in captivity? My friend runs a nature center and would like it as a display animal, but if it is just going to die then I will turn it back loose. Thank you for any information!

You can get them to eat crickets, but I might supplement the crickets with gutload or something to that effect. A friend of mine has his for a few years already and got it as a WC adult. If it doesn't eat, I would let it go.

just now on the internet and found some care and housing info. I did offer it some crix this morning (I keep them for my Leos)--so we'll see if it has eaten any when I get home. If it does not adjust well then it will be turned loose. Thanks again!!

You could also try caterpillars. I could not get mine to eat anything for a while but later after a nice large swallowtail larva, the little guy started eating tons of inverts. Andy

Is to have a plant in there with them and spray it's leaves at least once a day. And or the glass walls of the tank. Mine sucks the water off the leaves and glass and never drinks from the dish. I found mine too will hunt crix at dawn and dusk best with less disturbances.
