Hi I just got my first pacman frog and I have a few questions

Lizzard599 Aug 29, 2004 09:47 PM

Hi my frog is a albino pacman. Can you tell me what species he is. I think that only one species comes in the albino form. He was sold as a albino horned frog. Also I am wondering how to properly hold him to clean out his cage. He is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches long not including his legs.

Thanks
Jill

Cranwells horned frog. No handling. Frogs are mostly decorative pets. They aren't like a lizard or snake or hamster. They simply are not supposed to be held. The only time you should really even attempt to hold it is when you move it when you clean the cage. I use bed a beast for older frogs and clean it once a month. I use paper towels for young or sick/injured frogs and clean them once a day. Andy

Hi I didnt say I wanted to play with it I asked how to hold it to clean out its cage. How do you pick it up to stick it in a holding container? I dont want to hurt my frog. I am keeping it on shreded coconut bark. I know the requirements of pacman frogs I just need to know how to move it from cage to holding container and then back to its cage.

I carefully pick up my albino pac-man between his front and back legs when I need to remove him for a cleaning. I hold him firmly so that he cannot slip out of my hand but not so tightly as that I hurt him.

Oh yeah. When I do this I make sure that I go from behind him otherwise he lunges for my hand and he has a good bite.
