2 baby dragons and the size difference?

Tumtum03 Aug 30, 2004 05:05 PM

Hey guys I had a question for ya out there. I have two babies dragons together and I have had them that way since they where six weeks old. Well they are about 3.5 months old now. I have never had any issues with them. They don't fight or anything. but I have noticed my pure blood female is quite a bit smaller then my flame snow female! The flame snow female is 62 grams and about 11 inches, my blood female is 32 grams and 10 inches. I have taken them to the vet and they found nothing wrong with them. I feed them numerous times a day. They get their pellets, veggies and crickets. I have had them on sand since day one and that has never been a problem. They get rep cal wd3 every other day and they get the herptivite multivitamins once a week. They get veggies everyday, and they are misted twice a day and get a bath once every 3 days. Just this past month all she wants to do is dig! She barley eats, I mean she was eating like 30 crikets or more an eating to just eating about 3 or so a day, she'll eat pellets on occassion, but wont touch the veggies anymore and she use to pound them down. Any ideas on why she is doing this all of a sudden?

If everything at the vet was okay, I'd say she's ready for brumation.(meaning hibernation for reptiles, just in case you didn't know).

Actually, for babies- they probably wont brumate. It seems like the reason the other one is so much smaller is because of stress and she is not the dominant one, so she doesnt get the first choice at food, and only gets the leftovers. Happens in my baby bins all the time. If she is digging she probably just wants out, i would suggest seperating them for a time and feed and keep them seperate and see what happens. My geuss is she will get MUCH better and grow faster!

Good Luck

She is stressed and scared from the sounds of it. He is dominating her and she needs her own space now. He is still young, but keep in mind that males will start to act out male breeding behaviour at a early age (Usually around 5-6 months). This could also be causing her stress. I would suggest you housing them in their own tanks and she should pick right up.
