Shedding Problems Please Help Me

akashaBP Aug 30, 2004 05:21 PM

I just bought my first bp 3 weeks ago and she started her shedding process almost a week ago. She has been shedding in little strips and her eyecaps are still attached. I tried to help her by soaking her in warm water and then letting her slide through my hands and then I pulled(gasp) some of the skin off. I just read that this is something that you should never do and now I am very worried. I thought that it was similar to when we get a sunburn and then peel but I guess not. Is there a way for me to make sure that I didn't expose any underdeveloped scales or cause her any problems. This is my baby and I want to make sure that she is okay. Please reply and let me know what I should do.

Next time your snake does not fully shed, put the snake in a snake bag or pillow case that has been wet and ringed out. You want that bag/pillow case nice and moist, but not sopping wet (and do it with water that is around room temperature (not too cold, not too hot). Then, just place the bag back in the enclosure over the heated area. In about an hour or two, the remaining shed will be totally removed. Good luck!

The pillow case trick works for even the most stubborn sheds.!! Give it a try.
