Need Some Help With Skinny Ig.....

MultipleMorphHerps Aug 30, 2004 06:31 PM

Hey everyone, I have female green ig that was recently ill and lost some weight and am wondering what foods can I feed her to get her back up to that hefty weight again? She is skinny and I don't think feeding just greens and fruit will do the job so are there any other alternatives?

Tyler

P.S. Please don't think I let my ig get skinny and that I'm not knowlegable enough to care for such an ig but from the day I got her (rescued living in a portable dog crate) she wasn't in the best shape but now she's just gotten too skinny and I need to get her back up there in lbs.

Hi.

I can not remember which site I was reading on but I remember something about Ensure for a sick iguana but I do NOT remeber under what circumstances, etc to use it.

Try looking through The Green Iguana Society web page & also Mellisa Kaplan's site. Both have things about sick/underweight igs.

Hope it helps.

My vet swears by bananas & ensure. Mix it up in a blender and syringe feed. Not only puts weight back on but gets them back to feeling better again . . .so they want to eat more on thier own. It's always worked for mine. I've got big adults ranging from 7 - 13 years old.
