Just bought a Gaboon Viper and bored stupid.

Mrs_Boeing Jun 25, 2003 10:37 AM

I have had a life-long interest in snakes and I think that the African bitis vipers are the most beautiful animals on earth. So, last weekend I finally realized my dream of owning a reptile for a pet. Since I have always read that Gaboon Vipers are a great first snake (pythons can be quite spirited) I purchased an adult female that is 49 inches long, and as big around as my thigh (which is pretty big because I'm quite a chub).

If this snake doesn't kill me when I pick it up I'm sure I am going to die from boredom (I always use both hands midbody and very gently so it doesn't get angry, and none of those 'hook' things which I am told can injure her, so don't start about that!). The damn thing just lays there and never moves. Would it be ok to poke it with my finger periodically to make it do something? Not on the head or anything, just like near the middle, maybe halfway down the body from the head? What about pinching her tail a little? Not really hard or anything, just enough to make her jump when my mom is cleaning my room (my mom loves a good joke).

Thanks for any advice you may have now, or in the future.

Sincerely,

Rachel Powers

Obviously I have absolutely nothing to do in the office today and way too much time on my hands.

Maybe I'll take off early and go look for Canebrakes in Montgomery Co.

"Pththththth!"

"Thanks for any advice you may have now, or in the future".

> Here's some advice. Stop being a troll, it shows you have very little going on in your life. Sad, it kinda shows how little I have going on as well, simply for the fact that I actually responded to your crap. I'll have to chalk it up to it being a slow day. What's your excuse?

"What's your excuse?"

Severe boredom at work.

Nice try. For more excitement, may I suggest you teach your Gaboon viper cute tricks like taking a rat that is held in your mouth? Alternatively you can train it to take the family cat for rides on its back. That should be much less dull.

Save the trolls for April 1st, huh?

Actually, if you want to see a Gaboon that size do something really neat, hide a mouse in your hand (make a fist around it), with just it's head sticking out and hold it just in front of and above the snake's nose. Watch closely or you'll miss it.

Some times there's a fine line between a troll and a good joke, and I love a good joke...

Actually this is a very well put together troll. I liked it. It was very funny and pretty creative and had just enough facts to make it really work. and chuckle

Thx for the great troll.

To all trolls: If you are going to troll, at least make them this quality or better. Otherwise you risk being annoying.

This troll is one of the better ones I have seen! It gets an A for a grade!

cheesr. Happy hottings.
