How is that GTP? Is he/she as nippy as they are reputed to be? I thought about adding some darts to my collection cause they are so colorful, but the fruitfly thing is a big "heck NO" for me. Is that your 1st iggy? I have 2...I won't be getting anymore. They are a pain, I love my 2 but they are much more high maintanence than snakes and geckos!

the gtp is nippy as hell, hence the name bates, as in norman bates from phyco. contrary to myth, the darts are able to live off of small crickets. mine dont eat fruit flies at all. and as for the iggy, its my first in like 5 years since my first iggy, Iggy died, at 8 1/2'. bruce was brought home from a carnival by my brother, i wasnt to happy about it, but hes hear now, and i love him aready.

:O...so jelous of those beautiful darts! I've wanted them forever, but its impossible to get them up here without paying mass amounts of shipping! The python is beautiful too, although i dont think my mother would go for that! maybe next year when i move out.......

You got some nice animals there nevin. I thought about getting in to the poison dart frogs, they are awesome. And i would also like to get into the GTP's.

Just out of curiosity what is your green iguanas diet???

Romaine isnt very nutricious, if we were in the iguana forum, you'll be flamed ! I rescued an iguana that i found in a neighbor backyard, i wasnt prepared to own one so i do a lot of research on them and they need a LOT more care than our gecko . I'm still learning about them and i'm to the point of deciding if i keep it or give it to adoption. Feeding and housing them is difficult, and they are quite big and well armed to have mood swing. Anyway i really dont want to tell you what to do because you seem to have way more exp with iguana then me

Nevin, try some collard greens or mustard greens...they love those. Also cucumbers are pretty popular snacks for mine. A variety is the key!

Yeah thats what i thought they ate. I used to keep some that i had rescued from a guy but they were so far gone.....I got in an argument with a kid who had an iguana, that died but he was getting a new one. And his food of choice was a pinkie mouse once every couple weeks...That sounds like the feeding schedule for a boa or small colubrid. And i tried to explain that to him but he was so freakin stubborn. People like that should not own reptiles.

but hes not eating at all. thats the only reason i have romane in with him. as for nutrisius.... my last green iguana was 8 1/2' long. roamed freely in my house, and thought he was a husky. he ate a head of romane every 2 days for about 5 years strate befor he died. his cage was 8'tx4'wx4'd. once he starts eating agian, he'll have alot of veriety. lettuce, kale, dandilion leafs, AND COLLARDS. LOL. thanx for the concern.
