>>1) First question What is the difference between a wide spectrum bulb and a full spectrum bulb?
>>
This one - I can't help you with. In either case, they don't produce UVB, though.
>>2) The Syvania Sunstick where can I get one?, and are there any bulbs better or the same as the sunstick. What I trying to do is compare as many bulbs as I can based on output and price ($$$$), as I am getting tired of forkingout the large pricetage for a ReptiGlo 8.0($29-$45) from Exo-terra and wanted to know if there where any other options availabe.
Sunsticks can be purchased at a home improvement place for about $6, but keep in mind, this is for good quality visible light only. It does not produce UVB at all, nor will any other bulb purchased from a place like Home Depot. The best UVB producing fluorescent is the Reptisun 5.0, hands down, and you can get them cheaper than wherever you're getting your Reptiglos from several places online. You also have options in mercury vapor bulbs, but those can be expensive and burn out quickly. Quality UVB products are expensive to produce and thus are expensive to purchase, but if you have nice, hot weather and can get your critter out in the sun, it's free!
Best thing I ever did for my uros was to join a UVB meter owners group. Can't say where, since I don't want my post deleted, but you can email me privately if you want the link. lemurama@yahoo.com. They have a database comparing all kinds of bulbs with UVB production results - very useful info!!
