I'm sure you've asked this before but here we go again.....a female should be 18 months and a good weight proportionate to her length, healthy and parasite free. There is no specific breeding weight. The same applies for males.
That is for optimal outcome....there are those who choose to breed them younger with the other requirements met of health etc. I say 18 months for reduction in trauma to the females growth, health status and no decrease in life span and less chance of prolapse on the part of the male from underdeveloped muscles.
My biggest female is 19 inches and 530 grams at 9 months old. Sure big, and healthy enough to breed, but I chose to be safe and listen to the others who say 18 months. I'm sure she could have bred this season, but why take chances. My opinion is a good one
