so here is my dilemma... I bought another snail the other day, and chose to put the larger one (that i already had) in my turtle tank. Well, last night i was looking in the tank, and instead of my turtles trying to eat the snail... the snail was eating the Collard Greens i put in the tank for the turtles! and i think it has been eating some of the calcium (aka cuttle bone) too. can any of those things hurt the snail? also, my smaller turtle just wont leave the snail alone, it's constantly following it. Will he eventually quit following the snail? or will this go on FOREVER? thanks for any advice!

Evie,

Some people actually keep those snails as pets, not just to clean their turtle tanks. I found a forum for snails similar to this one when I had a "golden mystery snail" and read that you have to feed them vegetables, they eat real food. My snail was always eating food that I put in for the turtles, it would eat anything! I'm sure the cuttle bone is good for the snails shell.

My turtles never stopped hounding the snail, if they saw it come out they would try to take a bite out of it. I actually took it back to the pet store because it pooped too much, but I'm sure it was glad to be out of my tank.

Good luck with it! Nancy
