All of my adult females are taking f/t jumbos (rats)! My babies are on live rat crawlers once they hit small rats they will be moved to f/t. Not much a rat crawler can do.

Prestine (or anyone else for that matter),

Do you have any tips on how to convert the snakes over to F/T? I have some larger balls that will only take live. Do you have any suggestions on how to switch them over? Thanks.

Sure do. First you want to get them into feed mode. My babies eat 2-3 times a week so I'll take a live rat crawler and place is near the female. If she shows interest and starts moving toward the pray I'll start thawing a rat. This will get them interested. Leaving a rat in overnight doesn't always work (f/t or p/k only as live can really hurt your animal!) I feed by hand and have never been bitten feeding (lol fed my 10 1/2ft bali retic male by hand also, came close a few times but never got me). Sometimes they won't take it because of your hand (I've never had this problem with my animals but have with others). Then you just buy a pair of tongs and go from there. Don't hit the balls face with the food item as they lose interest. Lightly tapping the tail does seem to get them going though! Good luck with switching them over!!!

When i found felix several weeks ago, i made sure he was eating regularly first. I fed him 3-5 fuzzy mice a week. then, after 3 good feedings, i fed him 4 prekilled fuzzies (give em a few hard flicks on the head), then the week after the prekilled fuzzies i killed some live fuzzies then froze them. I heated up the fuzzies and in a few minutes they were gone. I think it helped that all the animals were very warm, and they were all the same size.
