My first fertile satanic egg

little_dragon_00 Sep 01, 2004 12:57 PM

One of my females laid a fertile egg below her ficus plant! The following evening I caught them going at it! The male was grasping the back of her neck while copulating. I'm pretty sure the other female is caring eggs because the morning after I introduced her to the group she had abrassive skin on her neck.

I'm incubating the egg in moist vermiculite at 74 degrees.
I couldn't believe how small the eggs where until I saw one with my own eyes.

Congrats! Did you find only one egg because they always lay two eggs at a time. Hope they hatch out okay.

I only found the one egg, a couple days earlier I had found an infertile egg stuck to a leaf. Is this strange that she laid twoeggs four days a part?

It sounds very strange to me. Uroplatus always lay 2 eggs at the same time and either both are fertile or both unfertile. I have never heard of anything like this but I guess there is always a first for everything. Anyway good luck!!!

i wouldnt say two eggs 4 days apart is too weird. granted one was infertile, but that might just be the luck of the draw. i had a pietschmanni lay 2 infertile eggs a day apart from each other.
