Tree Frog Eye Infection

opy Sep 01, 2004 01:38 PM

I have 2 male barking tree frogs and one has a nasty looking eye right now. He was in good health when I purchased him. Now his eye his cloudy and brown to the point where it is difficult to make out his pupils. It is definetly bothering him because he holds the bad eye half open. I have no idea how this occurred and I keep extremely good care of my frogs. I did have one smaller adolescent male in the same die almost a month ago, but it seemed to me that he died from ingesting pieces of an artificial plant. My question really isn't how it happened as much as how do I nurse him back to normal? Should I seperate him from the healthy male? Please someone, help?!?

Isolate him immediately and take him to a vet. If it is a bacterial infection, it can and will spread. He might require antibiotic injections. Take him to your local herp vet.
