Hurricane

debs1018 Sep 01, 2004 03:30 PM

Well, I'm in South Florida and a hurricane may hit us on Friday or Sat. My question is... if we loose power can my Mali keep warm in the sun during the day? I know that it won't be as hot as it should be but will he be ok for a few days? I don't want anything to happen to him. He just got better from being sick (Buddy). Please let me know. Hopefully we won't get a hit and everything will be alright

i am no expert but i just traveled across the country with all my lizards and they were all fine. i just made it a sleepy time for them, like i kept it dark in the back seat. but if you are really concerned for his warmth, the sunshine will help (just don't bake him like glass and sunshine can do sometimes) and you can always sit down with a book or something and stick him under your shirt on your stomach. it is dark and warm and after some wiggling they will usually just sit there. i have done it before when moving my lizards in cold weather. if your power is out for a couple days and the sun comes back out, for all you know you could be roasting in the house. good luck and i hope it misses you and the rest of the east coast which is where my family lives too.

Thanks. I thought that I could put him outside. I just know that they need a lot of heat and the sun won't provide a high temp. for him. As for the hurricane... even if we don't get a direct hit we will get some bad weather since it is SO big of a storm. I hope your family does well with the storm too. Wish us luck

Well I hope buddy will be all right after the hurricane hits. My grandparents along with an aunt uncle and 2 cousins of mine live in florida. They are going to be hit by the newest hurricane in a day or so, the one that begins with a G like Genieva or some stupid name.

It's supposedly going to hit 100 times harder then Charlie. Good luck.

frances is the one that is hitting florida in a day or two. it is just as powerful as charlie and andrew but it is twice as big so it can do the same thing as both but in twice as much space, yay! (note the sarcasm) i am so glad i moved to the west coast where all i have to worry about are earthquakes, i am kidding. i would take a hurricane over an earthquake anyday.
anyway. i wish everyone on the east coast lots and lots of luck

I think your uro should be fine with the temps in south florida. My uro was stuck between the floors of our house for 5 weeks without food and water, and we live in the northeast. It's nothing that is great for them, but I think he will be fine. Take care of yourself, and I hope the hurricane fizzles out without causing too much more damage.

Note-my mom just called me into the other room, this one hurricane that is either currently hitting Florida, or will be hitting Florida, is the size of the state of TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW good luck and I hope everything turns out fine.

Remember, BUY TONS AND TONS OF PLYWOOD!

My uncle and aunt dropped $200 on it to board up windows.
