My beardie -Lujan- eats anything in his tank that will fit in his mouth, so substrate is a dodgy issue when it comes to the machinations of his digestive tract. So after reading up on some alternatives, i decided to use paper sheets - cheaper, safer, and more easily changed. The trouble is he has figured a way to pinch the paper with his mouth, and rip up the paper and eat it. I thought that maybe his diet could be deficient of something, or his set-up wrong, so here's the stats:
60x100x60cm hand-built untreated pine tank
UVA&UVB bulbs 6am to 8pm
Heat lamps to provide basking areas 6am to 8pm
Night-time infra-red bulb to maintain required temps 8pm to 6am
His crickets andare gut loaded with vege and all the required supplements, and are fed to the beardie twice daily
Vege is offered once daily
He is bathed every few days, and is misted evey other day
he has paper sheets - kitchen roll, newspaper, sugar/rice paper instead of substrate
Am i doing anything wrong? Or do i just have a weirdo beardie?
