I think my snake has the runs....

msubigdawg Sep 01, 2004 06:27 PM

I have about a 3 month old Colombian. Lately she has crapped about 3 times in the last week. All of which have been kinda runny. I am wondering what yall think I could do about it or if you think it will just go away. I have decided not to handle her for a few days, just to see if that will help. I would appreciate some feedback.
Thanks

loose or runny stool is a sign of something more. Unless you are feeding strickly rat pinks with no hair (hair is like fiber for snakes). Normaly "the runs" is a sign of either some sort of parasite or bacterial infection. A simple fecal smear with the vet will get you the right meds to clear it up. With out treatment the snake can dehydrate very quickly at that age and die as a result.
Please take the snake to the vet as soon as you can.
Good Luck
