Dyer Honduran Boas

I don`t post on this forum very much but I`d like to clarify a couple things just to set the record straight. My animals came to me thru a (third party friend of Bob Harding)I`ve never talked to Bob , but if Roatan is what he has then thats what I have. Never was to concerned about it until lately when some of mine have evidently been refered to or sold as Fire Bellies, at best I called them dwarf and probable main land.Never refering to them Fire Bellies. My older breeders are between 6 & 7 ft and are 97`s, docile and prolific breeders I might add.

Word has it you have "Hondo mainlands" and by your post here it pretty well confirms what you have "are NOT" Insular Roatan.
Those with adult Insular Roatans have snakes that are 4.5-5'max and are meaner then 10 women at a blue light special. Those with the "known" Mainland Hondo report as you do here, greater lenghth, heavier body mass, calmer in nature etc.One person I spoke with has both mainland and insular adults 4-6 years mutiple males and females from both sides and they confirmed the consitances already noted size weight etc, etc.

Jack, can you provide pics of your breeders please.

Hi Jack,

After reading this post I wanted to chirp in - I recently I had both 1.2 of your 03 babies (which I have since sold to Nick - snakemannick) and 1.1 04 Dennis Sargent line, Roatan Island "Firebellies" in cages next to each other and they looked worlds apart .. while your "Dyer" line Hondurans do have a red tone to them, the "Sargent" line Roatan BCIs have a deep red everywhere ... in fact everytime I try and get good pics of them they end up looking like the pic has been edited as they come out very red!!

Just based on looks alone, I would suggest they are very different. I think there is a creeping tendency to name any Centeral American with a red belly a firebelly (hey I have Nics with real red bellies) but the original Firebellies are only from Roatan/ Bahia Island.

Now !!!!
If we could JUST GET THE W O R L Dto understand this !!
The damage is already done, even if Dennis comes clean and acknowledges this profound truth. The Roatans will never get what they have coming.
My concern as well as other Roatan keepers is that there cant be any cross`s made with the mainland`s and those that do should be flogged with the mutts they produced.

Yup....I`m on a Mission !

Sir,in your first post you stated you were "Clarifing" ?
I dont see where anything was Clarified ?
You basically said you got your snakes from Bob Harding and noted a trait or two?
Tommy Crutchfield imported "all" the Roatans as well as the Mainland Hondurans.Bob Harding breed them first before selling anything,He bred the Roatans in 92,94,96.The data isnt confirmed(in hand) as to when he actually bred the Mainlands, but its safe to say for now it would have been somewhat within the same time frame.Nor is it clear as to when he actually sold, traded or moved in any way any of either lines from the original imports as well as to whom ???

It seems nobody has seen the need to properly document their dealings/breedings with these snakes and their respectful lines from Hondo. The chain from Crutchfield to Sargent,MCquade,Dyer etc. has many missing links and then from the Sargent breedings on out its a total cluster. People have crossed the two and really made a huge mess. From 1996 to 1998 is a huge hole on both lines. With more conversations with Dennis I`ll be able to fill in some of it.A few other contacts still havent been made with the players during this time period.

Yes Sir,clarity is NEEDED here, your knowledge/documentation on any of this is important to myself and other keepers of Hondurans

Drop me a line with a contact number if your time allows and we`ll chat on a Sat,Sun afternoon.

This is exatly why I never post much, My only reason for starting this post was to inform anyone who has bought any of my hondos with the thinking that they where firebellies thier not. It so, it was not by my doing. Not to get into a discussion . If you can email me i`ll be glad to give you my ph # and I can add a little to more to your story Jack
