Enjoy, what a great little female this is. I can't wait to get her up to breeding size.

Was that animal sold to you as a genetic yellow belly?

I'm wondering the same thing. It don't look like a YB to me, unless they vary alot.

I agree with you also, that does not look like a YB to me either! Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles.

Can someone define exactly what a 'yellow belly' should look like?

Mine is identical to this snake. I'll get a better pic when this one settles in.

Warren_Booth Sep 02, 2004 06:04 AM

Hi,
It is indeed a yellow belly. The photo is just junk. I will try anjd get a better pic in a few days once she has settled in. It is very clear by the belly that this girl is a yellow belly. She carries all the traits, the mottled white and yellow belly, the blushing (almost pastel like), the blushings on the sides, etc. It was purchased from a dealer in Florida who has regularly sells to Ralph Davis, etc.

And a direct quote from him:

"Now , the YB/Lemon is a definate YB/Lemon , I am the premier supplier of these animals , 99% of the people that think they have them don't , and since the only people in the US that have captive produced these bought their original animals from me I think I know what I am doing . Here is a pick of a real Lemon Ball that Ben Siegel has up for sale for $XXXX, this was produced by a friend of ours that bought all of his animals from me . Also , yours has a belly like this , trust me ."

I'll get more pics when she settles in here in Ireland.

By the way, the animals in that pic is mine, not one from ben Seigal as mentioned in the quote. It was another pic he attached to the e-mail.

Secondly..............you posted 2 different pics of 2 different animals........

Here is your first pic...

That snake is not a yellowbelly...........

and here you say is the exact same animal...........

Now im no rocket scientist, but those 2 pics are of totally different animals..............

SORRY........

Jared

Hi Jared,
I better check my photo library on the laptop. I may have got the top picture mistaken. The bottom one is definitely my animal. I may have misread a previous e-mail from my dealer about the first animal. Lack of sleep while trying to finish my PhD thesis in genetics is killing me.
Either way, I will get a piture of my snake in a few days once she has settled in.

the second pic looks like a YB.

Good luck

This guy isn't the "only" person responsible for importing the Yellow Belly line out of Africa, he may think so but he is WRONG!!! The pic of this animal is indeed a YB so if your looks like that then don't worry about it ,your set, if not then that's a different story completely! I agree alot of people think they have YB's and really don't , however some of us do and that's all I need to say ! Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles.

rkreptiles Sep 02, 2004 07:33 AM

That animal pictured is not a genetic Yellow Belly. It is a great looking animals but not the same. I hope that whomever sold it to you did not charge you the full proven price of a Genetic Yellow Belly. Please post new pictures of it just in case the one posted is a bad pic but the pic posted does not show the characteristics.

Hey Rob.... Are any of the yellow bellies that you have for sale been proven to be reproducable? Are they Het Ivories? Got any pics showing your yellow bellies hatching out after being laid by yellow belly parents??? Just want to know... I'm just really curious about YOUR line of yellow bellies and how you KNOW that they really are what you think they are.....

guys,
After contacting the person I bought it from, Don Keseric in Florida, he informed me that neither of those snakes is mine. He sent me another that was doing much better. I just haven't had time to really look over her as she only arrived in Ireland yesterday morning. I'll let her settle in and feed a few times and then I will post some pics.
I appologise for the mistake.
Regards,
Warren
