Pac Man Warning

carafusinato Sep 01, 2004 10:17 PM

A word to the new owners . . . the disbelievers . . .

Today, a cricket escaped the tongs. I was reaching for the cricket and my about 2 inch diameter Pac Man grabbed the tip of the tongs. Not hit it with his tongue, not bumped it, but grabbed the tip and hung on. My instinct, to jerk backwards. The frog was a bit airborne for a second, maybe an inch or two off the substrate, and then he let go and landed. No harm to either of us, but to the disbelievers, these folks on this board are NOT kidding when they say these frogs will bite, not out of meanness, but out of lousy hunting skills. Beware your fingers and your kids' fingers. It WILL happen. If this saves a frog or two from a bad fall or a smash into the side of the tank, it is worth the effort to type it. You may be tempted to say, "not my bobo or spot or greenie or bud or whatever," but it WILL happen, like as not.

Good advice. I learned that when my frog bit me. It is always better to let them get off on their own terms. It will only hurt the frog or it will make your wound hurt worse.
