size (it matters)

Looking through my old Conant's field guide and noticed the "record sizes" of some of the Kingsnakes listed, Anybody out there with a bigger king than Conant lists, I believe I've seen a bigger Goni & would think that with so many long term captives most of his records would be broken.

On the contrary, everyone is breeding their captive stock at the lower end of spectrum for breeding size. I never understood that, why rush for small clutches when waiting for a couple extra years of growth will yield more hatchlings and not stun growth on the females...

Good point, but the load on males would not be severe, with unlimited food supply and if you were not breeding all year to grow someone must have a "big kingsnake", the Goni was over 80" easily over Conant's 68" (if memory serves). Come on someone, how big is your King.

Whats the scoop on the big Apalachicola King or Goini ? Sounds like a beast ! Any pics of it at all ? One thing im curious about is if one does have a record breaker where is that confirmed and by who ? It would be pretty cool to have a place where size records and other things are kept. I know there is a site for longevity but nothing sheer size or weight or even clutch size records etc...

Sorry no pics, saw the snake at a show, they said it was 80" (looked if) Most books on kings seem to get their sizes from Field Guides, my edition of Conant's lists Chain Kings as the largest at 83". would like to see a site with records of captive sizes.

Here's my (goini) record breaker. He grew another inch since this photo was taken - currently at 75" and eating medium rats!
