Odd Poop Question...!?!

caietaro Sep 02, 2004 12:38 PM

I just put my baby Ar. B&W tegu, Sobek, back in his cage and noticed he had gone to the bathroom. I grabbed a papertowel to clean it up and when I was cleaning it up I looked and it almost looked like it was just a big glob of tons of these little clear egg looking things! This is the first time I've seen them. Any ideas on what they are?!

Thanks so much!

I am not sure what that would be I have never seen that with my tegus. If I had to wager a guess I would say maybe some undigested food? Now on the down side I would say maybe some type of parasite. Wait till the next time he goes again if it is still there I would take him to the vet for a check up.
Good luck

Males often excreet some kind of mucus from their hemipene when they eliminate waste, but as you said it was a baby, I would go to the vet and at least get a checkup and avoid any suprises later on.

I think I figured out what the problem was. The day before it happened I had run out of crickets so I had to feed him some meal worms. He doesn't like them so he only ate a few, but everything seems fine now that he's eating crickets again. I looked at it more closely and it looked like undigested meal worms.
