Ornate water monitor?

Taidus Sep 02, 2004 12:53 PM

ANyone ever heard of an ornate WATER monitor...neither have I...so I bought one...I work at a small pet store in ottawa (Canada...haha) and one of my suppliers got in some water monitors and some ornate water monitors...It's NOT a nile...nostrils are totally different. It looks a lot like a nomral water monitor but much much much brighter golden yellow spots on it's back...and they're bigger...it's tail has some green on it and it has bright orange bands on it's face...any idea what the hell that is???...also...Do you guys think a water monitor and two tegus could POSSIBLY get along...I have a ~3' 3 yr old female red tegu and a baby argentina B&W....Thanks for your help...
Garrett
and yes I have room for it...My red right now has a 16' x 11' room to share with me...not bad for an eighteen year old I think

Neither are ornate monitors, HA!

Without seeing a picture, it sounds like a Mertens monitor, Varanus mertensi. These stay smaller than the salvator water monitor, are native to Australia, and from everything I've heard are quite possibly the most water loving of all the monitors. If you post a picture, we could tell for sure.

Oh it is possible. Stranger things have happened. Don't be suprized if one or more animals comes off badly from this arrangement, however.

Hi Garrett,

As Luke said, we need to see a pic. Go over to www.cybersalvator.com and those folks - they know salvators... and there are salvators nobody has ever dreamed of 'out there' only to be discovered...

good luck, look forward to seeing pic.
