ledges and pool

biig_worm Sep 02, 2004 01:18 PM

How wide should the ledges on the walls be for them to be comfortable? I also want to know if its a good idea to buy a 50 gal premolded pool and use plaster to shape a smaller one to build a wetland filter

Thank you

Plaster doesn't seem like a good idea to me. You should to try and find another container or use fiberglass. Fiberglass is expesive and will take some sanding etc. If you have not used it before this is how it works, You have fiber glass sheet that you lay over a mold(which could be made out of plaster) and then have resin that is mixed with an activator and painted on to the mat. within a few hours it is ready for sanding and or, another application. But seriously, I don't think it worth the extra work. It would be cheaper and easier to find another container/s to use as your pool or filter medium holder. You can get large cement mixing tubes for less then twenty dollars. Also, The basic principle of the wetland filter doesn't require that one container fit within the other, the water section can sit off to the side and you can use plastic hoses to transfer the water. Logically you going to want the pond area elavated above the filter medium container so that you only need one pump.
