What to feed, what to feed?

cuddlycroc Jun 25, 2003 01:41 PM

i have a sav that is getting near 4 feet and i am interested in looking toward some other foods. i like to hunt and was wandering if deer, squirrel, rabbit, and even chicken parts with beef liver and heart with supplemental minerall is a good thing? im just looking for a cheaper, easier way to feed if possible.

thank you!

I had a neighbor that hunted here and my Sav loved squirrel and rabbits!I don't skin things,so he killed ,skinned and froze them for me.Note:Squirrel have no meat!

Roaches help keep them in some shape and the other foods are the best things to feed them. At that size and age they eat a whole lot less or get very very obese, so I would change from whole foods. Besides you can buy rodents, peeps, and roaches cheaply.

yeah, all of those will keep him fed. they eat carrion in the wild, i can't see how those would do them harm. but about feeding, here is the deal....

rats and mice are easy to breed, chicks are cheap and you can get them in large quantities from hatcheries and stuff em in a freezer to feed when needed. these are also more consistent and provide an overall stronger nutritional base then non-whole food items. there is however nothing wrong with feeding your sav occasional other meats like rabbit, deer and whatever the hell. the real morons however feed crap like hotdogs everyday, leftover bigmacs, pizza, etc. they are not people (i wouldn't be healthy if i ate that crap everyday though either), they are monitors.

cheers, andrew
