You'll have a hard time finding a breeder for Schneider Skinks, as they are very hard to breed in captivity. Usually, wild caught specimens tame down nicely. I had a pair as my first lizards, and I would definatly recommend them as a beginner's lizard. They generally grow to around 12 inches head to tail, but obviously some maybe be a little bigger or smaller.

A very good site for husbandry advice, Aino's site: http://www.helsinki.fi/~tuomola/schneider.html

is a great source of information.
