Is it possible for cockroach mites to infest a snake?

silenthill Sep 02, 2004 06:04 PM

I just got a couple madgascar hissing cockroaches, and I've have seen about 3 tiny white mites in the substrate. I keep the cockroach cage right underneath the snake cage and I was wondering if they could spread to the snake. Does anyone know if they did get in the snake tank, would they harm the snake? I know that there are some mites that are harmful to snakes so I'm wondering if I should keep them in the same room.

To me mites are mites. I dont knwo if "cochroach mites" are the same thing as mites that would be on a snake.. but I would assume they are.

Long story short, if you want to keep the roaches in the same area... get rid of the mites =)
