Folded Lip?!!? Any Info!?

ben_renick Sep 02, 2004 09:43 PM

I just fed my 9' Male Retic, and I noticed his left side of his lip was folded down a little. This was the first time I have fed him, because he is new, but I was just wondering if it's a problem, or does it just happen everyonce in awhile? any info would be helpful

How big was the prey item you fed him? If it was decent sized and streched his mouth out, it may just be from that. And it should shrink back up soon. If its not from streching I cant tell you. If it lasts for a long time, I would have a vet look at him.

It was a jumbo rat. It happened right after he snapped and constricted it and then when he was eating, and after he was done it went away in about 5-10 min.

This is not a problem. I have looked in on my Retics several times and thought they where just makeing fun of me or something but come to find out they just messed up and folded the lips when they where eating.
If you notice any bleading from the Lip I would advise you to use a 50/50 Peroxide/Water rinse on the area that is bloody.
