dtsdragon Sep 02, 2004 10:07 PM

I have one pacman frog in a 10 gallon tank and currently have an undertank heater and I want to know should I keep it or buy a light or can I do both I not really sure and the people at petco are not really helpful at all.

Unless your tank is going to get colder than 70F you do not need a heater on the tank.

If you choose to keep a heat source though, get the heat mat away. Heat mats are made for heating the bottom of the tank. Frogs are used to burrowing from escaping heat. If the frog becomes too hot, then it might burrow down to escape the heat and end up on top of the heat pad (they aren't number one on brains in the animal kingdom). This can result in big problems. If you want to heat still, use a low wattage bulb that you can raise and lower above the tank to obtain the best temperature.
