Going to college, need help!

To start I know this is in the wrong part of the forum, however if you look at the shipping forum you will understand why i have posted here.

I need to ship my 6 foot black pine from Portland Oregon to Portland Maine. Looking at the shipping forum I am TOTALLY lost on how to ship her and with what service to ship. Right now the only way I can figure is by UPS but without telling them there is a snake inside.

Someone PLEASE help me out her, I only have 2 weeks before I leave.

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, you can ship your snake completely declared and legally utilizing Delta Dash....Try going to Delta's web site and researching this.

Delta Dash is one way to go, but you must go through their verification process, prior to shipping, and this can take at least two weeks. Also, they use several other associate carriers, in some areas, which will not handle live cargo.
Follow this link fo rmore info on Delta Air Cargo:

http://www.delta.com/prog_serv/cargo/index.jsp#cargo_info

Also, you may try US Airways PDQ, as they handle live cargo, and there is no verification process required, though their service area is quite limited. For information on US Airways PDQ follow this link:

Best of luck to you,

Jeff

Do you have a local breeder that you patronize?? Maybe you could arrange for them to professionally ship it for and to you?

What's the big deal? I shipped a Viper Boa recently via Federal Express. I purchased the insulated box and heat pad from Scales (see their website) for around $10 or so. It was a no brainer. The box said "Scales Quality Reptiles" or something and no one cared at Fed Exp. Make sure you don't put the heat pad near the snake. Put it in the box under the styrofoam. The snake should be in a cloth bag, I used a pillow case.

Hope this can work for you.

well here is the deal, FedEx says on their website that they will not ship snakes, i know people do it, and maybe i will end up doing it that way but looking for a legit way at the moment. US Airways will do it, unfortuatly they dont fly into Portland Oregon which is where I am. Delta costs a minium of 170 bucks that is really expensive. Thank you all for you ideas keep them comming PLEASE.

Colina...

Well, if you want to do it legit, (and I recommend that you do), it might cost a bit to ship your snake. If you are going to be going to college in Maine, perhaps the cheapest way to get him from Oregon to Maine is to take him with you. I assure you he will be fine in a cloth sack or pillowcase, as long as he's otherwise in good health. I don't know what else to tell you...Most people that ship snakes legitimately do it thru Delta Dash....There are those that use FedEx and UPS, but it is against company policies for them to knowingly ship snakes.

unfortunatly I am not going to school in maine, but my brother is, and he is taking care of her for me. Delta Dash is no longer an option with the amount of time I have left. I am thinking about just UPS now, I dont seem to have any other options
