leave daylight all for three days?

mmellott Jun 25, 2003 02:25 PM

i was just told by a local pet store that i should try leaving the day light on for three days and this will confuse the snake and make him want to eat...has anybody heard of this? i don't want to stress out my bp.

sorry, ment i was told to leave the daylight light on for three days straight....

thats a big no-no in my book. this will stress out the snake. just leave him alone, he'll eat when hes good and ready. and make sure you see the BP eat BEFORE you take him home.

see, that's something i didn't do, i took the pet stores word for it...i've had him for two months now, he strikes at the food, but doesn't eat..i've tried everything from pinkys to rats and even gerbils...freshly killed and alive i cannot put my hand in the cage without gloves or he strikes at me...i think it's the heat from my hands. i've been told he is normal since he's not losing weight and is active at nite...

i thought i'd ask bout this before i did it...i don't use a light at all jus the uth and if it gets too chilled i use a black light which seems to bring the temp to where it should be without giving off light.

Leaving the light on for 3 days will not affect a ball python. I go away alot of weekends and leave the lights on, and my ball pythons eat and breed fine.

the only thing i don't understand is that he acts as though he is hungry, but won't eat...i know they go for periods without eating...two months, two sheds, later...still not eating anything....

It's a ball python, just let it do it's thing. It won't starve itself to death. I just had a female ball start eating after going 8 months without even looking at food.
